Candle Burning Tips
Tip 1: Never leave a burning candle unattended!
Tip 2: Do not place candles near flammable objects such as curtains, walls, etc. Keep candle free of wick trimmings, matches or other foreign matter that could be a fire hazard.
Tip 3: Keep burning candles on a level surface and out of reach from children and pets.
Tip 4: It is important to keep the candle wick trimmed to 1/4 inch. This will prevent carbon build up resulting in a ‘mushroomed’ wick.
Tip 5: If soot builds up inside the container, this can be removed with a paper towel & window cleaner. Baby wipes work great too!
Tip 6: All candles will produce some smoke and soot but proper burning (keeping the wick trimmed and avoiding drafts, etc.) will help prevent this from occurring.
Tip 7: If a wick is trimmed too short to light, remove approximately ¼ inch of wax from around the wick. After it is burned and cooled the appearance will return to normal.
Tip 8: Candles will discolor if left in direct sunlight or spotlights for extended periods of time.
Tip 9: Candles should be burned 1 hour for each inch of its diameter. This allows for a good burn pool to develop, reaching the outer edge. Burning a candle for less time may cause the candle to hollow and will shorten the candle burn time. Plainly said: Burn a 3 inch wide candle no less than 3 hours at a time.
